Moto G5S Plus
- Design
Maybe it's a sibling thing after all as the Moto G5S Plus bears a striking resemblance to the G5 Plus. Not that they're identical twins as the G5S Plus comes with an all metal unibody that makes it look premium. And unlike its predecessor, it does not have certain elements made of plastic - something that we thought made it look more high-end than Moto G5 Plus. The Moto G5S Plus smartphone comes with a slightly curved back panel and rounded edges. When we held the device in our hand, it felt solid right away and we could easily perform all functions with one hand.
The volume rocker and power buttons are sandwiched on the right edge while the SIM tray is placed on the left edge of the smartphone. At the bottom, you'll see a microUSB port and speaker grilles while at the top there is a 3.5mm jack.
There are certain pros and cons in the design of Moto G5S Plus - the design is repetitive but the all metal unibody gives it a premium look. However, it also makes the device a little slippery to hold. Also, because the dual rear cameras protrude out, one has to be very careful while placing the smartphone on any surface as there is always a chance of damaging the lens. A few flaws aside, the design of the smartphone and the good build quality left us suitably impressed.
- Performance
Powered by 2.0GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM, the smartphone offers 64GB of internal storage and can hold microSD cards of up to 128GB. Moto G5S Plus runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box Motorola exclusive software enhancements. The smartphone houses a 3000mAh non-removable battery and comes with TurboPower charger.
The combination of Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB RAM, 64GB of internal storage and stock Android, the performance of Moto G5S Plus does not disappoint.
Moto G5S Plus comes with its own set of pros and cons, but the positives of the device definitely outweigh the negatives. It has an elegant design, a good build quality and a reasonable display. Performance wise, it runs smoothly and has an excellent fingerprint sensor. The cameras and the sound output could have been better. A disappointing aspect was that the heating up of the device while using certain apps.
